Jewish Heritage

  • Start your journey in Lamezia Terme, Calabria, where the Bat/Bar Mitzvah will take place, in  Ner Tamid del Sud, the first active synagogue in Calabria in over 500 years. Your Italian Jewish experience begins with a walking tour of “Timpone,” the Old Jewish Quarter of “Nicastro,” (now called Lamezia Terme), located on the ridge beneath the castle of King Frederick II protected his Jewish subjects. Amazingly, Jewish life prospered in the area since the 1100’s! Along the way, you’ll see an ancient representation of Jewish craft as you view intricately wrought-iron balconies, hundreds of years old

  • Discover Rome with a Jewish guide that will take you to explore the vast Jewish Heritage in Rome.

  • Explore the Jewish Ghetto with a private visit to its two Synagogues and the Museum.

  • See the Sistine Chapel as nobody has seen it before! Michelangelo was exposed to the Kabbalah and the mystical symbols of Judaism at an early age under his patron Lorenzo de’ Medici. Discover hidden secret messages within the Sistine Chapel supporting a revolutionary change in Christianity’s relationship with Judaism.

  • You’ve heard about the Christian catacombs Rome is so full of, but perhaps you’ve never come across the Jewish catacombs before – we will arrange a truly unforgettable visit for you.

  • Visit the extraordinary Synagogue (whose dome punctuates the skyline of the city) and the attached Jewish Museum with its fine collections. Later, be inspired by the beauty of Florence as you walk the charming streets and great squares. Visit the Academy of Fine Arts (Accademia), home of Michelangelo’s statue of David. Continue past the famous Duomo, to Ponte Vecchio and Piazza Delle Signoria.

  • Enjoy the unique flavor of Venice as you sight-see this legendary city. Begin at Piazza San Marco with a visit to the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs (with artwork by Tintoretto, Veronese and Bosch), and the San Marco Basilica. Continue, via Venice’s characteristically narrow streets and alleys, to the Rialto Bridge, which spans across the Grand Canal of Venice Island. Return to Piazza San Marco with time at leisure.

  • Depart by boat to the Ghetto Vecchio (Europe’s first official Ghetto), to retrace the history of the Jewish Community of Venice up to our days. If there will be time we shall also have a look at the small but well arranged Jewish Museum located there.
