Florence

A Renaissance city, Florence offers frescoes, sculptures, churches, palaces, and other monuments from the richest cultural flowering the world has known. Florence is a dream for art lovers. The Galleria dell'Accademia bursts with works by Michelangelo, who is entombed within the frescoed walls of the Basilica di Santa Croce. Awesome photos can be taken on Ponte Vecchio bridge, and shoppers can spend a blissful afternoon wandering the shops of Piazza Santo Spirito. Cucina Fiorentina is worldly known and is made of some fundamental ingredients: bread (plain, unsalted, well-baked with a crispy crust and light and airy inside); extra-virgin olive oil, without any doubt the best even for frying, grilled meat; Florentine steaks of beef, roasted or wine-braised game such as boar, deer and rabbit and lastly, the wine itself.
